Carmichael Hall is behind the library past the landscaped Tennet Gardens and gazebo. It is adjacent to Reynolds Green and Whitesides Hall. Originally constructed in 1966, Carmichael Hall has recently been renovated through funding from the Connect NC Bond.
A member of the class of 1966, the University’s first baccalaureate class, and the University’s first African-American graduate, Francine Delany contributed a lifetime of service to Asheville and the surrounding community in support of childhood education. Delany Hall was renamed in her memory in 2021, following renovations completed in 2020 and original construction in 1966.
There are 4 accessible spaces in lot P27 at the end of Theater Lane.
The accessible restrooms are on the first floor in the east wing near the elevator.
To return to the campus quad stay on the pathway adjacent to the building and continue to the accessible ramp between Zeis and Ramsey Library that leads to the center of campus.
Constructed in 1966, Carmichael Hall was named after Dr. Oliver Cromwell Carmichael, former chairman of North Carolina’s Board of Higher Education.
